Here's something I'm going to try with the daily updates...I'm going to list what's going on entertainment wise with me. I'd like to have this listed to the side of the blog with the ability to change it daily, but I don't think that's possible.

  • Candlebox - Happy Pills
  • Stone Temple Pilots - Core
  • R.E.M. - Automatic for the People
  • Sarah McLachlan - Surfacing
  • Better Than Ezra - Good (single)

Comic Book Day

That's right, today is Wednesday, and that means it's new-comic-book day.

For those that don't know, I'm big into comics. I have been for more than half my life. But things have happened lately that made me take stock of my hobby and make some changes. I've started selling my comics (a link to my Ebay auctions will be here soon...assuming I can figure out how to do it) and moving to what I call bookcase-quality comics, namely trade paperbacks, hardback collections, and original graphic novels. The collected volumes will take up less space than the individual comics, and they'll look nice in bookcases rather than in long white boxes. Also, it'll be a treat to be able to read an entire storyline without having to unbag and then rebag individual issues.

So what's on the menu today?

  • Authority: More Kev #4
  • Marvel Knights Spider-Man #7
  • Secret War #3
  • Fallen Angel trade
  • and I'm cancelling Hellblazer and The Pulse. These two books just arrived at good stopping points, so I'll be doing trades on these titles from here on out.

I'll also say something about the store where I buy my comics. The Great Escape has two locations in the Nashville area (downtown on Broadway and in Madison), one in Louisville, and one in Bowling Green. Besides comics, they've also got a plethora of used entertainment media, including CDs, DVDs, VHS, records, books, magazines, toys, and gaming. If you're in the Nashville area and are looking to buy some crap, this is the place to do it.

I might as well put up a little info about me since I've got this. By looking at the picture below, you might think I'm in the medical field. Not even close. No, that picture was taken just over a month ago just minutes before my wife was wheeled away for her C-section. A half an hour later, we had a beautiful baby boy.

So that's me. First and foremost, I'm a father and a husband. And I try to be the best at both that I can be. And really, it's not as difficult as you might think. I love my wife and son dearly and I know my wife loves me. Right now to my son I'm just a giant that brings him food, talks to him in a funny voice with words he can't understand, and gets rid of the occasional stinky diaper.

I'll eventually tell you about my wife and I met and fell in love, but not right now. I've got to space all this info out, y'know.

In the beginning...

Holy crap, I'm blogging!

I don't know how long I'll stick with this, how often I'll update it, or even if I'll let everyone see it. I may just let random people find it. I find it easier to bare my soul to a stranger than to someone I know...at least over the Internet. Catch me in an odd mood and I'll tell you what's going on face-to-face...which is always better, isn't it?

If you find this, please bear with me while I figure this stuff out.

Rob
